Time Management Tips

Time management is very important to being successful at working from home.  Organizing your schedule and simplifying tasks and chores can make a big difference in the time you have to spend working actively on your business.  Here are a few tips to incorporate for a successful workday.

1. Cluster your errands by day, location or both. Make a to-do list first thing in the morning and group the things you need to do.  Write down what you want to accomplish during the day and check off each item as you complete it.  This gives you a sense of accomplishment and helps you actively move through your day.

2. Delegate and pace yourself. You do not have more than 2 arms! You are not a super human.  Ask for help.  Tell each family member what he or she can do to contribute.  Plus, if you cannot get everything on your task list done in one day, don't be too hard on yourself.  There is always tomorrow to try and tackle chores again.

3. Double your recipes and use a Crockpot.  It's a lifesaver!  It saves cooking time as well as time preparing dinner. Throw something in first thing in the morning and have it ready by the dinner hour without you having to hover over the hot stove.

4. Plan your meals at least weekly. Don't make it complicated.  Put together a list of what will be made or served each day of the week.  That way everyone will know what the menu is and can contribute to helping you prepare it.

5. Tidy up the house throughout the day for 5-10 minutes here and there.  Not only will it give you a chance to take a quick break but also it will make a huge difference in how you feel about cleaning.  Try a morning, afternoon, and evening break time clean up.
